Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Like is always full of surprises...

In my life I have mostly worked for trashy companies - last year when i got hired by COP i felt maybe this is time when i will get to stabilize my finances and plan on leaving a smooth life.... i guess life always has surprises and twists not are not foreseen.... for me its going back and starting from scratch again....

good luck and best wishes to all effected employees

Been laid off twice(Once by COP) in my 35 year career, but never missed a pay check. In fact, both times I landed a better job with a better company. When a door shuts a window opens. For me it was more like a garage door, plus I banked allot of DOE from severance. If I could, I would not change a thing.

That is not always the case. Remember the show Let's make a deal? It isn't always better behind door number 2. Prepare yourself for a huge financial and emotional hit after layoff. Hopefully things will get better but it might just be different not better.

See it as a blessing.

When one door closes, another one opens. Your only responsibility is to seize the opportunity.

Hopefully this is one door closing so another can open to a better opportunity. Maybe you will look back in a year and see this was just a stepping stone on the way to something great. Good luck 162091.
