What is happening in the various distant Chevron outposts in the globe?

Could people in different parts of the globe update us fellow Chevroids? Angola, Venezuela, Nigeria, thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Kazakstan, Kuwait, UK, Norway, Russia, China, Canada, Singapore? My apologies if I have left out any... Share with us how you have been affected the current situation.

And what is happening with ex-US expats in US? There are rumors about many being sent back. Lets make this an informative exchange. We will never get any information from our management.

Chevron has serious cash flow problems. Lots of knee jerk decisions with dire consequences to come. The third quarter is ending next (mid) week. They are trying to settle as much as possible by Sep 30.

I was taken off my project in Angola about 6 months early and am a must move. There are at least 5 others on team also must moves and we are an active project with 8 months at least left. There were about 160 people for 50 jobs. And most are low level that require relocation in U.S. Removing people before projects are over to lay them off makes no sense.

ABU about to layoff approx 900 - HR putting together the paperwork. Most expats (USA) are on the move back.

Meanwhile, a small Aust oil company (santos) just started its first operated LNG asset on time and budget last week.

384, you are spot on. While GOM produced many great employees, it also produced a generation of what can only be described as a freak show of management styles, particularly those who clawed their way up the ranks in the 90's. Look at what those insipid individuals are doing in other BUs today, such as Burke over in Angola (the human pear), and who could ever forget that colossal king of all freaks, Magness. Btw, Derek, what happened in the Ukraine? Hehehe...

Don't forget the personal, bullying bigotry of the average Chevron team lead. Your supervisors petty prejudices have a big influence over your success or failure. Personal hatred at Chevron is often rewarded with accountability for employee rather than team lead. Many at Chevron never grow out of this playground mentality. GOM is a great example.

Chairman, How did they identify who should go back and who should stay. Is it based on how long have they been here? Or is it based on the particular group manager's whims? Or PMP?

It's not just rumor that many non-US expats are being pulled back, it is true. Unfortunately, many had established new lives and made long term commitments on the basis of promises from management that are long gone.
