Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

This has been in the works I think...

At the close of last year we received a completely unexpected email that our executive marketing coordinator in the Florida region would no longer be with the company. No explanation was ever given. Within a few months our art director also left. Now I am thinking they were told that this was going to happen and they would not go along with it. Just speculation on my part, but knowing how passionate they were about our team in our region it makes sense

The problem with wholefoods is a leadership challenge because they are in denial and won't just face up to reality and start resigning on their own for lack of foresight. If you look at the structures of our competition, they do not have these fancy regional headquarters filled with so many dysfunctional positions. "Price" is another issue - you can try to discount 2% of total products in the store and print the best graphic signs, at the end of the day you can't fool people all the time. They will figure it out.

In short, this bubble had to burst in one way or another.

I know of a regional person now astl who apparently breezed right through this. They knew it was coming and saved their friends and mistresses first

They left because the FL region is a disaster and doesn't give two craps about marketing and what the marketing teams did for them. Since marketing didn't make physical money the higher ups think they can do without them. Well who is going to take all those turkey orders in a month and then hand them out? Who is going to sample and push new products to sell more product? Who is going to go in the community and teach children how to eat healthier? Guess those things don't matter any more. The core values are a joke now.
