Not only are we losing most of our full-time employees, Leadership is now saying that all part time jobs will be less than 20 hours a week. So if your full-time position has been demoted and you apply for a part time there is no guarantee that you can get up to 29 hours a week. They are looking for disposable employees now. Why doesn't this company wanted dedicated employees who want to be there and work hard. No one can make a living with a part time job. This is not the company I started with years ago.

apparently those "special meetings" are happening company wide.
RM region is waiting to have their "special meetings" this week, everyone is scared. We heard that stores on the east coast already laid off their marketing, PBS, and some specialist positions.
Best wishes to all who are affected by this irrational greed driven decision! It feels like WFM is imploding.
WFM has been actively terminating FT, tenured employees who try hold the management team out of Austin accountable for years. There's more dirty dealings happening behind the scenes at the company than their shareholders realize. They've been moving toward a new, less invested team member base for a long time. It is NOT the culture of even ten years ago.
That's what I figured. I have sent this link out myself to news outlets, NPR, etc... but it's Sunday... Good luck to everyone.
Also some TLs know but were told not to say anything to their teams. By tomorrow (Mondy) afternoon it will be all over. This is going to be a press nightmare - and there are no marketing people in the stores to clean it up for them. Once people are let go and take their severance, social media will be crazy.
TM's are at risk of disciplinary action if they post elsewhere, and since these layoffs were very quickly delivered on Friday the press hasn't yet taken hold.
I don't doubt you, but I am having a heck of a time finding any information about this outside of this forum. My husband's about to go to a "special meeting" tomorrow and I'm trying to prepare for the worst.
