Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

US citizens should be priority one for keeping their jobs in the US.

I hate to see anyone lose their jobs and many of the non-citizens are my friends, but at times like this we need to save US jobs for citizens. Same is true for Canadian citizens in Canada, etc. I know some of you will say it's the law, however I have seen how companies are able to get around this and do. Having said that, we are a US company and need to maintain a staff that makes sure nonUS locations maintain US standards.

Fair enough...If this is the case, US expats that are assigned all over the globe should be repatriated to the US as well...

I vote for the plethora of supervisors with short man syndrome (and short penis syndrome) and sleeping with the newly hired contractor; the contractor intended to replace the employee due to be involved in the layoffs next week.

All other countries make sure their citizens are taken care of before any non nationals keep their job. I have been through it only the U.S. Will keep non citizens over citizens because they are cheaper

That's disgusting. You make me vomit.

And you don't even know the laws of your own country, it is forbidden to discriminate between US citizens and green card holders.

As for me, a US citizen, when I see the consequences of losing their job for some of my foreign coworkers, I would gladly give up mine if I was sure it would save them.

Caucasian males should be priority number one for keeping their jobs. We are a good old boys club and we need a staff that makes sure non-white males maintain our racist, sexist standards.

Not really. No matter who you are, local or immigrant such comment is ignorant. Priority should be given to those who can drive the company forward, citizen or not.

If you knew who I was you would realize you're the one who is ignorant.

Hahahahaha...wait I got to catch my breath at this. Are you kidding? or are you referring only to people that have been expatriated here? If that's the case I totally agree with you since its high cost for the company, but I am hoping you are not referring to those who have a Green card or working visa, because if that the case you're a total ignorant. I don't want to be teaching you your own history of this country but you may want to read about it before you make comments as ignorant as that, of course I will take back my comments if you are talking Only expatriated people, but you were not specific.
