We just opened a store in Alabama this past week and all buyers, supervisors, and the 2 ASTLs have to reapply and there will only be 1 astl position. WTF? This is not "shared fate" as this company has drilled into our heads for years. This is dog eat dog like the rest of the corporations out there. Quit lying to us Whole Foods. You do not give a flying f*** about the happiness of your team members. As a matter of fact just change your core value to that. Please.

There's no doubt that regional (Omar) knew about this long before the TL and ASTL positions were filled in Mobile. Check with an attorney before signing any severance paperwork.
It's sad wishing this after spending so much energy defending our store an the company from all of the recent media backlash, but I hope they get slammed for how pathetic and counter to their desired image this is. Won't be any marketers around to clean this up.
Does this mean I won't get a gain sharing check quarter 13?
Millions spent on fruitless and arrogant ad campaigns, more and more spent on this pithy Lovefest program, more and more stores opened while labor is shot. And the TMs are getting punished for poor decisions?!
It's bad all-around :( hard to say what's worse. The two ASTLs definitely relocated,1 from another store and another, an outside hire. I feel bad for both of them.
OH, A LOT of people knew about this. Nothing of this magnitude is put together overnight. They had to strategize, develop and run the severance packages by legal, run the numbers with finance, etc. My region stopped backfilling certain positions (marketing) over a month ago, so yea, a lot of people at the global and regional level were aware.
One of the many sad things is someone, somewhere knew this was coming and still let TMs relocate for positions. Shows total lack of empathy and the true heartless character of this company.
I wonder how many of those downsized TM's relocated just to take those positions? From what I understand, no relocation expenses paid if any of the displaced have to move again to take other WFM jobs either.
