Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Whole Foods is turning into Walmart at a blazing speed

I joined 14 months ago, things are deteriorating all the time. Not sure if I will be sticking around regardless of layoffs. I know folks have put in many years, effort, sacrifices - I respect that, I am just talking from the standpoint that much recent and does not have an insight into how things were great in the 90s and later. I just see that things are not improving, in many aspects it's harder on workers, not sure why as on the surface it all looks glitzy. I drank kool-aid initially, the current events completely opened my eyes. Do not get me wrong, still love my team, still love the Whole Foods brand, but hey - got to be honest here, I do not feel comfortable with the direction. My two cents

I joined last year as well, and I'm in a similar boat. In my eyes, the company was refreshingly anti-corporate (compared to my old job, at least), and there was a lot of upside to working there... but then they cut the raise limit around the time of my first job dialogue (part of why I took the job was because they told me that I would probably get the max raise when the dialogue came up), and after that, things started to slide downhill. Every month, I would see new things and changes that reminded me of my old job, and then the bomb was dropped Friday (I'm in the South Region). As a TM with the desire to move up, that hope has now been dashed, as the only way I'm going to be able to move up anytime soon is by undercutting my friends and co-workers by applying for their jobs, which I'm not going to do. The closest stores to mine are at least an hour or two away, so I'm pretty much stuck where I'm at. I'm probably going to start job-hunting soon, unfortunately.
