Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Etechs, maintenance, black box guys!

Are they going to let go of etechs as well and will the IVMS " black box techs" be eliminated? Please somebody who knows anything post an answer to this. It could certainly help a lot of us from having to figure out how to keep food on table for our children and help out by having our kids with a good Christmas.

I will tell you why there are few good field mechanics...the job doesn't pay well enough. I was a field mech with a degree. Learned how to do my job and the etechs job. Eventually found a job that pays for that kind of guy. Got a 20% pay raise to be a good mechanic in a different department.

Man, I appreciate you trying to be a team player, but don't tell me you've never got into the "its an electronics problem" from the mechanics simply because they are more part changers than anything else. Its really not their fault, Halliburton hasn't forced them to keep up with the times. Nonetheless, a good skilled etech is priceless in this world and they are desperately undervalued by the company- always have been essentially a necessary evil so to speak.

I dint want to hear any bashing of e tech vs mechanic. I am a 5 year e tech and was always that much better at my job with a good mechanic at my side. The faster you learn in life that utilizing the potential around you makes you that much smarter, your days will get a lot easier. Mechanics and e techs are maintenance as 1 because we are brothers.

Well, your right it all seems un fair and why keep a ton of us if trucks are parked...... well maintenance needs to still be done, updates are thought u every month from Duncan to be fulfilled and Halliburton has not shut down and completely stopped pumping. Trucks are still used and trucks break. Mechanics and Etechs are two totally different breeds, not one is better than other and both are very much needed. I do believe that they should eliminate the guys who just stand around and steal work orders and are riding the clock. I myself stay busy from the time I get to work till I leave, I FIND something to do t keep things functional. When it comes to maintenance, we should evaluate how each person does and how they perform their tasks and if they are doing more than just their role. Many people play multiple roles with one job title and never get the credit. we should eliminate the foul players and keep all the good guys that want to work and want to do a good job and are not lazy. instead we see many hard working people leaving, and a lot of people staying that don't do very much.37

Lets see, time to train an etech - months vs. time to train a mechanic....(if they are even trainable) duh...

You e-techs are not special. There is no need to keep all of you when 50% of the trucks are parked. Join the rest of those who get laid off and figure out what the heck you are going to do next.
