Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Any news on people in grocery specialist positions (grocery, dairy, bulk, frozen, etc.) getting laid off in the NC region?

My TL is pretty convinced none of our 6 grocery specialist will get laid off. Considering the new company norm is supossed to be 4 buyers per grocery team, I'd say it's safe to say at least 2 of us are getting canned tomorrow. What's the word in the region?

we have always had a dairy, frozen, bulk, and grocery specialist. now it will only be one buyer for all of it. after sub team alignment one person will be responsible for ALL of it. they can all go for that one position but that sucks. that's so much for one person to order! now those subteams will not get the love they did when one standout person owned them. i can't imagine we won't see drops in sales.

The buyer/specialist position is history. They'll keep a few for the transition. They did it this way, before the other pieces are ready (how wfm) because of the start of the fiscal year. There won't be no mo eventually. So sad. It was great while it lasted.

You can expect to be hunger-gamed, competing with your fellow buyers for many fewer spots.

$500,000/wk store in the MW, we keep all 5 grocery buyers. Losing only our in-store marketer. Why are all y'all other regions so hard hit? Bizarre.

In the NE (small store, $500-$600k/wk) our 4 grocery buyers have to apply for 2 open positions. Ironically, they'd had a position posted for a 5th buyer since Data Unification. Now all of a sudden it's been determined they only need 2 rather than 5?

if you don't one of the 4 spots you may be offered a Tm spot but where? You may not be on the same team, if grocery is doing this to save money will not necessarily be able to re absorb everyone.

You won't "get canned" unless you're on a final warning. If not, the six of you will have to apply for 4 open buyer spots. The two that don't get a spot will have the option of taking severance pay and leaving, taking a position as a team member with bridge pay, or applying elsewhere for an open position.
