My metro consolidated PBS to metro specialists a while back, cut demo and healthy eating specialists about a year ago, etc. I'm talking specific product team positions here. Is it just trimming buyers on larger teams that may be buyer-heavy? Or is my ATL position in danger - and if it is how the HELL does WFM expect to develop good future leaders? In my 6 years WFM experience outside leadership hires never fit in or last long.

Hilarious the idea that we're 'overstaffed' - my team can barely keep up with necessary tasks. I agree that efficiencies can DEFINITELY be made for a lot of teams (non-customer facing teams) but the idea of cutting people from the floor is counterintuitive.
I heard that some buying and specialist jobs are being eliminated. TM's whose jobs are being eliminated will be giving the option to look for other type of jobs within the company or to take severance. the company is eliminating positions that do are redundant. we're over-staff and we need to become more efficient, and if we intend to be still in business in 5 years. we need to change.
ATLS not being axed in SW. Read on another post, how many ATLS you have are determined by sales.

Currently there are 2 metro TL positions open that I am more than qualified for - but haven't applied for as they aren't perfectly 100% the best possible choice for me to make so picky old me hasn't gone for them. I feel SO LUCKY that if my position is cut at least I have a couple of likely options to move up rather than down. My heart goes out to those not in my frankly priviliged position.
It depends- What are your store sales? Which department are you in? How many ATLs, sups, and buyers do you have? Of those- who has write ups? How many? What kind?
in FL region it was a "restructuring" of marketing. MTL has become a metro position with the TM covering 2 stores, healthy eating specialist and demo specialist are being eliminated entirely. we are also going down to one store artist/graphics position.
I hear in the SW they're axe'ing the ATL position and demoting you down to "Specialist". You'll most likely take a pay cut as well
How many TMs on your team and how many other ATLs?
I think you are in danger. I guess they're just not going to have as much leadership at all and just hire PT team members.
