Anyone else on that team leader call we had today and someone asked "our tm's are scared for their jobs, how do we as team leaders address that and assure them that things will be okay?" Omar responded with, "Well it's life, you can walk out of your house and you can get hit by a car." Wow. Just wow. And then he went on to talk about how we are responsible for this to not happen again. Maybe you guys in regional should stop making dumb decisions that affect tm's. Without us, your company is nothing.

They changed the call-in number for that call like four times and I still got on. As an STL that was absolutely shocking. Zero empathy and an aggressive tone, condesending in fact. 26 years between WFM/B&C and I am ashamed to be in leadership. This company really does have some tremendous leaders but unfortunately we get represented by...
Namaste friends
STL's are trolling maybe even RAHODEB
And too many union agitators trying to make a buck off of TMs who are hurting and trying to regroup. We don't need a union to do that, we have each other.
Wow, it seems they're are way too many people on here who are completely ignorant when it comes to unions
Who cares if Omar is not from Mexico. Sent him anyways!.. Miserable hungry bastard!
You all should tweet Omar's quote to news stations. Would be awesome to get his quote on the news to show how stupid wfm execs can be
Omar is not from Mexico, why would he be sent "back" there?
Omar should be stripped of his position and money 💵 and sent back to Mexico to work in a prison for profit.
Unions take the Team aspect out of a team oriented environment for sure. What do you do when your coworker calls out sick at WFM? You jump in and help out so that the team you work on doesn't suffer, the store doesn't suffer, and ultimately the company performs better. Unions will prevent you from performing tasks outside of your job description. In a lot of the stores, WFM team members, team leaders, and store team leaders function in this "one store, one team" type dynamic. It really is a beautiful thing when functioning at its best.
Unfortunately unions definitely isn't the answer to this. I wish WF's would've thought about this whole process better ,but unions aren't going to fix anything. Honestly think we would be worse off if we unionize.
@PNW TM- Omar Gaye is the South Region President.
@Anonymous165238
Team Leaders are considered management and can't join a union. Nor would anyone in their right mind who still works for WFM. This is a devastating blow to our TMs, but a union is not the answer.
I'm the one that posted the UCFW link. I was not spamming, I thought it was an appropriate response to someone in leadership indicating utter disregard for their workers. I always disliked unions (I was well indoctrinated by WFM) and ?I still have not taken any actual steps to join or try to unionize WFM.
BUT how do we answer this question: who will protect us from Global's whims and hubris?
This is not your Dad's WFM any more folks.
Omar's Keyser Söze's bro
Children.welcome to the real world. There are people from grown up companies laughing at your idea of a "lay off".
Who is Omar?
Someone should get Omar hit by a car outside his house! Karma is a bitch!
just sad, but somehow this doesn't surprise me......TMs are scared now when theres a conference call, smh...
Haha I was on that call and I was like WTF?? Way to keep positive. As if losing tm's wasn't bad enough! SW ATL you got it right! Why aren't you the president?
This is how I handled it with my team, I can school Omar on this: "We are in this together, we are challenged on multiple fronts but still lead the race. Things may happen at any given point in time, you can walk out of your house tomorrow and win a lottery, so things may happen. At this point in time, let's each of us focus on what we can impact and do the best possible job we can." - I kind of kept it at that.
That's interesting because when the stock took it's first big dip John Mackey said TMs were the "special sauce" that makes this company great. I guess you can just pour that sauce into the trash when your exec team keeps routinely screwing up.
What a POS
That's just plain silly. Thinking like that got the company into this mess.
Go back to where you came from Omar.
