QCOM still makes way more money than Mediatek, Mediatek has literally never had the profit margin QCOM does and has been in decline for almost 2 years straight. QCOM has had basically one bad quarter and the shit hit the fan. Wake up, it's 2015... AAPL will also learn cpus don't sell phones and outsource, it's a waste of money, they throw so much money at their crappy cpu, someone will realize this sooner or later, it adds no value at all but they're too invested now to see it

It isn't like the 810 guys did something wrong with their CPU, these technology nodes are really prone to thermal runaway and there really aren't EDA tools (or one's widely used) that could have caught it. Most people on this site have no clue what this even means and just like to "LOL you messed up" like they somehow know better. Apple's CPU guys are not like cream of the crop or anything, they are probably worse than QCOM in general, their CPU is not what is selling chips. Apple's cpu team is made of PA Semi (OK company, but not awesome or anything) and then the disgruntled and job hoppers across all other places.... Tho only ones not making this sort of mistake is probably Intel because they don't have to ship the 1st or 2nd taped out version of a chip, they have time to find problems and correct.
