Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Fired before to cut down on severance packages

I know at least 25 employees who were fired four days before the layoffs, so they wouldn't have to give them a severance package. They were looking for every little thing to get rid of as many people as possible before the layoffs. One employee who had been with the company for 9 years, was a great worker and guy, was fired for being absent 6 days in 6 month period.

In the South they have been very quick to write people up for quite some time! A/STLs writing people up for clocking in at 10 after when 11 after is technically late. These bastardss were told to slim down! That plus the hiring freeze...we should have seen this coming! FU WFM!

If he was already on final for time and attendance this would make sense, you can be a great worker with years of tenure but that never secure's a job if you can't show up on time or call out too frequently. I've had to separate some great team members for things like this and it does suck tough.

I had a Job Dialogue a few weeks ago and got a great pay increase. Then, they told me my pay increase wouldn't go into effect until Oct 17th which I thought was weird but I assumed I'd get retro or something.

I have an emergency meeting tomorrow on my day off. I wonder what it could be? Hmmmmm? I wish I hadn't given that extra 10% and just stuck to my regular 100.

No one in SoPac had a clue until Thursday. Some of the regions have been slimming down for months.... It's almost cruel to see how they've pushed this down to store level and expect us to pick up the pieces. How unfair is it to both TMs that go and those that stay? Not to mention the tireless and thankless work of the TMS/PBS that are making sure the orders are properly executed.

they just fired a ton of ppl at the north raleigh store as well. it's sad to see a company do this to it's employees after they claim to treat them like family.

Sure a GIG infraction but you can't paint the rules in black and white for some and grey for others...they were LOOKING for a reason...heartless.

Same here. I know someone who was fired a week before for guesstimated the time on a mispunch form was off by 6 min and fired for theft of company time. She was with the company for 4 years. I know plenty of others too who had been fired for the smallest infraction that would have otherwise been overlooked had it not been for the layoffs.
