Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Getting through the day while working for a hypocritical company

The thing that sucks about working at Whole Foods now is feigning a tolerance of their core value that they respect their employees and put the care of their suppliers/employees over the bottom line. In order to keep their stocks from plummeting and to satisfy their investors, they ruined lives by nixing long-term employees who had done nothing wrong in order to restructure and "stay competitive." How do we know they even donate their proceeds to anywhere other than the pockets of corporate? They certainly don't donate it to making health insurance affordable to part-time workers. It all seems a farce or a smokescreen. Whole Foods is a joke. I've worked for several companies in the past and I am absolutely floored at the poor treatment of employees I've seen and experienced at Whole Foods. The fact that this company makes any "Best Place to Work" list is mindblowing. I have to have two jobs because I have been denied full-time on multiple ocassions, and my STL and ASTLs have repeatedly asked me to ask off time from my second job in order to work more hours at Whole Foods: basically, they are requesting I work full-time without giving me the benefits of actual full-time employment. Ironically, my other job has had some recent stock issues, but rather than lay off employees or close stores, the CEO just sent a note asking people to be nicer to customers. It's still a bizarre response, but a hell of a lot more reasonable than Whole Foods' solution. I don't know - I've been weirded out by this employer since I began in February and looked at the atrocious per-month cost of part-time health insurance, and the fact that I was recommended to apply for the ACA instead. How on earth can anyone continue to work for this shoddyass company?

There is a ridiculous amount of people on here who speak like high school kids. Selfish brats?! Some of these people are adults with family or expecting to make families. They are not being selfish they needed their jobs to afford living .

It's funny how people have no idea how a business is run. If a major mistake happens, and the company is in a new place, then usually the solution is a lose-lose situation. The company lost great tm's and great tm's lost jobs. But if it keeps the company from crashing and firing 88,000 people, don't you think it's worth it? So I like it? Hell no! But do I accept it as partner business? Yes. As an ATL I'm afraid for the future, but the company did this as a last resort, not out of malice. I refuse to succumb to outrageous speculation and public persecution of a company that has historically shown itself to be a good company. But it's 2015 and when there's a little bump in the road, people file law suits and jump on socia media to scream foul play, instead of just sucking my up, adjusting, and moving on with life. Some of my best friends have left the company and I am sad, but that doesn't change the fact that every day WFM is moving towards an ever changing future in this crazy global economy and it has to sometimes reevaluate it's inner workings.

News flash: what part of *we create wealth through profits and growth" confused you? It is a business (even if too many regional and stl/astl treated it like a clubhouse.

If the only core value you half remember is about your happiness you need to wise up.

Selfish brats crying gimme gimme gimme I need I need I need.

You are the ones ruining this company. Good riddance.

Uh, you guys. It's not that I believed that the company wasn't self-serving, but that it literally exists on the basis that it helps its growers/buyers/suppliers/employees. That's the ENTIRE existence of the store. When someone like WalMart or Kroger says it cares for its employees or growers, no one believes them. But Whole Foods exists as an alternative for people who actually desire that transparency. If they want to act like WalMart, they need to shed the obvious smokescreen that they are acting in any way different.

Also, you don't have to censor your curse words, ya f***.

News flash: they're here to make money, not friends. Despite their core values, they really don't give a shit about you

Wait it's 2015 and you actually BELIEVED that a corporation cared MORE about it's employees than it's stock price? HAHHAHAHAHAHHAA!! Holy shit - seriously? Fing hell....you people will believe anything they tell you. Jesus Christ, this is the oldest story in the fing book. Corporations care about one and only one thing - survival. If they've got to steal from employees to do that....OK, game on. WAKE THE F*** UP!!!

If you're going to take a moral high road as your company tagline, you need to follow through. Whole Foods is a hypocrite of a company.
