Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Anyone laidoff today?

Anymore layoffs today? I worked yesterday and not one person from my team (guest services) was laid off. The store lost about 8 people and we were told all that were going to be let go have been notified. Do you think we are out of the woods? Have there been more suprise layoffs today?

I took severance today and got a full time job already. Good Riddance. This situation puts a bad taste in your mouth and makes you fear the future no matter what these "leaders" try to hype up.

They got rid of 3-4 specialty, bakery spec, 6 -8 people on pfds, healthy eating spec, demo spec, a bunch of supervisors, a few grocery, probably at least 20 ppl total have been canned at my store since yesterday, the rest of us get to deal with the aftermath, the stress, and the pissed off guests who have no one to give them great guest service. I am in disbelief that this is even happening right now. I have been with the company for over 10 years, and this is just saddest thing I have ever seen. Watching all of the people I worked for years with on a daily basis getting let go has been extremely hard to watch. It makes me mad that they are doing this. So much for team member happiness. They should go ahead and remove that line from the core values. Oh they should also take away satisfy and delight the guest as we won't have enough team members to do so, and the people we do have left, aren't going to be in the greatest mood. If you shop at foods, don't expect to see many smiling tms right now.

I haven't seen our STL for several days, almost a week. When I do see the ASLT's they look drawn out and tired. The TL's aren't looking much better. Yesterday was the last day for at least 3 people. Today at least another 2. Friday is the last day for a few more who have decided to take severance, including marketing.

We had at least three people that I know of laid off today. After the holidays I expect the real culling to begin.

The labor budgets are intended to make it so hard to get by, that most scumbag team leaders will figure out ways to get rid of anyone making a near living wage. There is no way they will make labor, and they all know it. Read between the lines.

I don't see how the new much lower labor budgets will work without layoffs. So more are likely to come.

My STL held a bunch of huddles today reassuring us that this was it. But considering 3 weeks ago they told us no one would be laid off, I find it pretty hard to believe anything upper management feeds us. We may be okay... For now, but after the holidays you bet your ass the rest of us will be canned.
