Many people have taken that to mean that, while most of the layoffs are happening now/yesterday, there is a chance of more coming in the next few weeks. I don't think that's correct, and here's why.

At the bottom of the form, it says "Please understand that you may use as much or as little of the eight week notice period as you want to make your decision and remain in your current role for that time". This seems to indicate to me that the "difficult decision to reduce a number of positions across the company over the next two months" in Mackey's email refers to the notice period that team members are being given, and not to a two month long reign of terror in which anyone may lose their job at any time.
Now, maybe that's just wishful thinking, but it seems to me that if you survive the layoffs that are happening this week, you should be ok going forward through the holidays, unless you get fired for some other reason (attendance, final warning, etc).
