Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I'm Staying

I guess the south region did things differently than the rest of the company. We got the option of taking severance or going for one of the jobs that was available. Seems like a lot of you are thinking of leaving but I'm staying. It sucks right now, but 8 weeks of pay and a small severance aren't much after taxes. I've got student loans. Wfm may not seem great right now but no one else is hiring for full time in my neck of the woods.

I will take my free thousands of dollars and my raise at my new full time job. And agreed, next time there might not be severance.

Small severence? With my pay and services hours i came out better than staying for only 15 hrs a week in my secondary position or hoping i would get a job at a different location.

I live a simple, decent lifestyle despite having made more money than an average retail worker, so im not in dire straits. I have months of a budgeted lifestyle to figure it all out.

Would you seriously expect someone to be able to focus, take on more responsibility for less hours, less pay and NO MORE BENEFIT. No. Thats stupid.

People who think they are going to be saved in the next round because they took a kick in the nuts are going to be just as blindsided when they give notice and you dont have the option for severence.

If you can make that kind of payout work, supplement your income with other things, then you need to seriously reevaulate the lifestyle you choose to lead.
