Anonymous170952: who got it at Chicago, Tinley and Schaumburg? You are correct it is very corrupt. Tinley had a Dean one day a week and she just sits in her office looking pretty with the two doors closed when she's there. Wait - no - she's on very important conference calls.

By Daniel Moore / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Dated Oct 1 2015

The Education Management Corp. has laid off 115 employees at its Art Institute schools across the country, with 10 people let go from its Pittsburgh location, the Downtown company confirmed today.

Positions were cut from “several” Art Institute campuses, said EDMC spokesman Chris Hardman, and included both faculty and staff. The layoffs were announced to employees earlier this week, he said.

“As our schools and the sector experience shifts in market demand, staffing must be adjusted accordingly,” Mr. Hardman said, emphasizing that the layoffs are not affecting EDMC employees.

The layoffs come days after the Pittsburgh for-profit education company announced it has a new CEO, Mark McEachen, who came to the company earlier this year. EDMC has struggled with falling admissions and declining profits for years, as the for-profit education industry has come under public scrutiny over recruiting practices.

In May, EDMC announced plans to shutter 15 of its 51 Art Institute campuses across the country, affecting 1,200 employees and more than 5,000 students. In June, it laid off 300 employees nationwide, including 70 in Pittsburgh.

Chicago is one of the most twisted and corrupt of the Ai circus fiascos. Glad to be let go in all honesty. Blowhards like Brokenshire can shove their assessment up their asses, painted in fraud to cover up the truth.

This was the promised phase two. Perhaps the full time faculty left can stay aboard until this titanic sinks.

WPB South U Fl. FT Graduate Director axed. A nut of a woman. Replaced w/adjunct. She was very much company all the way. I guess it didn't work. All you have is your integrity in this world people and if want to swim with the sharks find another line of work. You don't have the street cred to survive. Goodbye Mrs. Chips.

Ai San Diego instructor severance was two weeks pay, give us your key/ID card now, here is a box and let's walk you to your car. They were Informed one day prior to the faculty meeting. Campus president had hollow platitudes and "nothing personal, just business" as he informed remaining faculty the next day. Relief on the facts of remaining full-time faculty...for now. Effluence may interface with HVAC units on Monday when the students return...these were popular and effective teachers.

Argosy "doctorates" were yet another way for edmc to scam money. They could claim "schokarship" funding on the government reporting spreadsheets. The education and degree is a joke.

Two let go yesterday in San Diego AI, both full time faculty, one with a brand new Argosy doctorate. He's not pleased, nor will the students be next week when classes start. Both were excellent and popular teachers.

Lost two in Portland, one faculty one staff. Faculty was a student favorite, there is going to be a lot of questions next week on where he went to. Moral is low, but they gave us sandwiches at the meeting and told us no mass emails where to be sent about the layoffs.

Why is no one leaking this to the press. There are enough news people out there that hate EDMC. Doesn't anyone on this site have a connection? What about the attorneys that are closing in?

Please identify the schools affected when posting about layoffs - potential loss of employment is scary, so knowing where things are happening can help those affected and those who may not be currently affected at other EDMC school systems. Thanks
