Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Ha, what a great place

The Brookings report estimated that, of the University of Phoenix students who left the school in 2009, 47 percent had defaulted on their loans by 2014. "I regret attending the University of Phoenix more than I regret marrying my first husband," Riley told me. http://www.vice.com/read/for-profit-colleges-driving-the-student-debt-crisis-by-preying-on-non-traditional-students-928

078- Like the other guy says, despite your rosy spin the debt levels and defaults speak for themselves.

  1. What stats do you reference to substantiate your claims?

@person replying to 932. Communication can be mis understood at times and the education UOP provides is comparable to that of which most traditional universities with the exception of pre admission testing. I fact, I feel like programs at UOP are considerably more modern and relevant to the real world. Not to mention that the majority of students attending are working full time which means that they are having to develop essential time management skills. Most traditional students do not work, and fail to understand real-world expectations after graduating. Furthermore, even with a degree from a respected traditional college, going into the workforce without experience most start at the bottom making near what those without degrees make.

932-The 'blame the victim' mentality got old 10 years ago. The bald fact is this place is overpriced and their degrees are worthless in almost every location and every field.

People that have attended UOP can have regrets for different reasons. I work at UOP and I personally was lied to several times about a few different programs. I checked into things more because I got tired of getting the back and forth of misleading information. All info is not always laid out and is not always honest.

Define "good" people? I highly doubt many who have graduatated actually regret attending. I hear this a lot more from those who attend and didn't finish. They find even excuse to blame other things on the reasons for their failures. Attend somewhere else if UOP does not have what you want. Nobody is holding a gun to your face expecting you to do something you don't want. All the info was probably laid out to your from the get go. You knew the time and cost investment, you went through a financial aid counseling to learn about your responsibilities. There should be NO EXCUSE as to why there should be a regret. Admit your faults and learn how to get over your shit! Life is tough and there are many challenges we must overcome. Your self pity is one of them.
