Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I've been told I need to decide by 5pm tomorrow. True or False?

The Severance Package explicitly states that I have 8 weeks notice to maintain my position while I make my decision in exchange for the notice bonus. Am I being mislead in order for them to meet this fiscal year deadline or what?

Wait until oct 1st at least so your benefits carry over for another month.

SW store told us 24 hours if your position was no longer going to exist.

Funny how they did this right before payday...are they avoiding having to pay all of us for another 2 weeks?

And I absolutely believe we are being mislead so that they can close the books on last year and what's left of the "culture".

We were delivered this lovely news in the SO last Friday and we were told that they needed the signed packages back by this coming Friday. 24 hrs seems like a scare tactic

By law you're supposed to have 7 days to decide on severance package paperwork. 21 days if you're over a certain age (can't remember the exact age).

Seeking law advice currently. Paperwork is very transparent about the notice period. I'm considering all of my options and would like more than 24 hours to get my ducks in a row.

You can work if you'd like up to 8 weeks however if you elect the severance then why work? Essentially your 8 weeks of pay started today whether or not you choose to continue to work. If you are electing to take the severance like me, your best bet is to turn in your signed form tomorrow, start looking for a new job, and begin collecting your 8 weeks of pay.

What region? We are getting different information in NorCal. The company has been planning this for awhile so why so much miscommunication between regions and even stores in the same region?

Are you really going to trust strangers on the internet for a response to something so important? Talk to your TMSG, or get a lawyer.

So I've been told the same thing. I asked why the deadline if I still have eight weeks to change my mind and they said for processing purposes. Whatever that means.
