It is a Software job at a startup. Base salary ended up being slightly higher at $138k. No rsus since its still a private company, and maybe I'll get lucky with the options. Anyway, I am glad I don't need to relocate out of SD. Good luck to you folks out there.

OP: A lot of smaller companies can't afford the legal work associated with hiring H1-bs. Can you apply for GC? Can you afford to do it on your own if the ER won't pay for it?
138k is actually pretty realistic but on the higher end for software engineering salary in San Diego for Senior/Staff level positions.
AFAIK, here is a few from my own knowledge
Viasat : 115k Sr Automation
SNEI: ~135k Sr SW Engineer
Verizon: 120k Sr SW Engineer
LPL:: ~135k Sr SW Engineer
Intuit: ~125k Sr SW Engineer
CashCall (OC) : 130k Sr SW Engineer
Most Sr SW engineer jobs in SD are in the 120k base range + bonuses.
There're some 5000+ SW companies in SD looking for talent. Mostly small ones, just like Q teams you used to work with, but there, your contribution will count, big time. Are you up for the challenge? You won't last long there if you don't deliver, seriously.
Agree. Bullshit
bullshit! no body is gonna pay you that kind of money for a software engineer in SD besides Qualcomm. Stop making shit up.
Really ? ;-) Let us know where ...
A startup you say ? ;-) You daddy must be the VC !!
You must be running the operation !!
138k starting for a software engineer in san diego? what a bluff
Via Sat is hiring, it's what Qualcomm was 10-15 years ago.
Can you elaborate what industry? Telecom? Biotech?
