I went to my local HEB in texas today to purchase groceries.
I no longer had a discount at wfm, so what else am I going to do?
I found not only are the prices stupid cheap, the guest service at this particular location had a damn come to jesus talk and it was spectacular.
For $74 i was able to buy groceries enough to last me for a good while. Yes clean food. Yes organic. Some of the exact same things at wfm, but as a former wfm tm I was astounded at the difference. Its not that i left shopping at HEB when I started at wfm...i just got caught up in being convenient to grocery shop after work and not stop at another place.
because lets face it: im done with $9 juices, $3 single roll tree bark tear up my arse hole till i cry toilet paper, and dont even get me started on whole body....whoa. yes produce prices have dropped but the overall feeling is still that while you know it is cheaper...you still hesitate because your head tella you "it has to be cheaper elsewhere"
This is the real deal, people go for the value in these times. They buy less and less from wfm because each time they shop, their budget doesnt go as far.
Oh, plus i dont have to make a separate trip for light bulbs and batteries now.
Been hitting up the fresh produce marts with items from some of the same producers as wfm et al.
Im learning as an employee, i had become numb and distant to the concern of cost to regular consumers. On the other side of things, I see it now. And there is no amount of explanations that could justify the grossly obvious overpriced items. Even the 365 brand stuff is still pricier than other storebrands who share the same manufacturer. Heb just flat out has better deals, more of them too.
While salmon asparagus and wth else they did last u recall was a decent price deal...how many meals does it make? How many mouths does it feed? They tend to be better commodity items..not just "oh crap we overbought our seafood..."
I will say, the meat and sf is hit or miss at heb, even central market.but i rarely indulge in meat beyond some tasty ass bacon. So im whatever.
Wfm has a handfull of items i still would shop for, but i went on amazon and found all but a few and have already planned for replenishment shipments.
On an unrelated note texas residents, wtf happened to all the heb "oreos". I wanted to eat my feelings. Nothing on the shelf but the cherry lime ones on clearance. Did their agreement with nabisco finally end?
