Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

http://fortune.com/video/2015/09/28/walter-robb-whole-foods-layoffs/

The 1500 employees are about 25% of the full time staff (and we all know that's a low ball number). Makes that 1.6% feel a little misleading. These were careers cut. Not part time college, or extra money jobs. My heart is still broken, and wish the company would tell the more honest truth about these cuts. Our regional president talked about the 87000 left to move into these new leadership roles. All they are doing is finding people to do more work for less pay. Talking up how generous your severance package was doesn't change what you did. I expected more from the company I fell in love with.

For you who only lost 4....you're lucky.

Most stores did not fair so well. My store has lost 5 before any of the interviews started. The average in this region so far sounds like 10 per store. 30 in my department throughout the region (and we were hit the least)

But you are right, Its supposed to say 2.5% a lot of the media assumes it is the entry level workers and not the people who have poured years into this company.

they started with all the part time workers and trotting out that ratio of 60/40 back when bush was about to leave office..years before obamacare got passed..it aint about a law its about profits before workforce health....remember that UHC c.e.o made a cool 110 million in 2009 or 2010??? look it up...its there...

1500 is not 25% of the full time staff. We had 4 jobs eliminated in a store of 270 people.

they dont want you as team members to have health insurance..and know that the b.s. insurance is whole foods insurance ADMINISTERED by UHC,not actually uhc insurance..this is why they kept tampering with the deductibles over the last few years..to make it more profitable for the bottom line..
