Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I'm sick about this. Mid Atlantic is going to trim down ASTLs. Many to go

I have it on good account (straight from a RVP) that MA is moving forward to 1 ASTL for many stores. Layoffs to come soon...

I was told that stores with more than one ASTL in MA would be losing them. Our store only has one, so it was discussed very openly. It was not presented as speculation.

They didn't just spout off to just anyone- I'm more in close contact then that. I'm above TM/TL level. I'm just as upset by the cuts as anyone else, yet I do see the necessity for consolidation of positions; it doesn't make it easy though. I'm just furious that it got to his point because of the ill advised spending and decisions by a few that now many are paying the price for. This is an anonymous board so I just wanted to put the info out there. But since I keep getting called a troll and fear monger I will say no more.

While Obici and Park are surely elitist snobs I doubt they would spout off to just anyone about future cuts.

That being said-paying foodie find committees and buying capswiznats season tickets on the company dime does feel right.

The money could be better spent.

Full store meetings at the crack of dawn to preview the commercial-not needed.Lots of hourly pay spent.WFM has made many decisions like this.Money should be more wisely spent on things like these.Marketing materials that never get used, heavy regional staffs(same reports coming from 3 or 4 different people)-overstaffing for store openings-all a lot of money spent.

Restructure happens daily in the business world.WFM needs to approach future spending smartly to avoid this stuff in the future.

Just a few thoughts-we all have 'em.

I call bullshit on the insider info. Might be a somewhat educated guess based on other regions, but def not factual. High volume (1.2m weekly) stores need two ASTLs. Can't expect TLs to shift store with reduced labor budgets.

They both have questionable ethics and trusted you with this info? They must really trust you. Fear mongering like a bunch of these post.

I'm not trolling but I don't want to throw either Sam Park or Julia Obici under the bus like that, even if they both have questionable ethics. Let's just say this info is reliable
