Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Miss Carolyn, 66 years old and close to retirement. The most amazing employee I've ever encountered as a customer over 25 years.

We've been loyal WF customers for over two decades. Our enthusiasm began to wane with the Addison store, but we still stopped to talk and hug Miss Carolyn at the juice bar. She started at Safeway in Richardson before it became Whole Foods. She looked after us when we went through unemployed times and kept our spirits up. We went to that store for years just because of her.

I went out of my way to go to the store yesterday and make sure she was okay. She said she would see us at the new Richardson store in 2016. Now that I think about it, someone was lurking around her while we talked. Now I wonder if she knew but didn't or couldn't say anything. My heart just breaks to think her job would be cut, but I have a feeling it was because that felt like a goodbye hug.

We LOVED Whole Foods for so long and now I see what's coming. It'll never be the same. It lost it's soul yesterday. We're DONE. I am so sorry for all of you that worked there so long. You deserve to be treated so much better.

I worked with Ms. C at Richardson. She is good as gold. I'm a former team member and now former shopper as well. This is disgusting and don't be fooled by the 1500 number. It's at least three times that.

Today i lost my best friend and mom. As a current supervisor at the coffee and juice bar in addison, ms c is my everything. Ms c's last day was today and all i can say is that i am broken. Nothing will ever be the same. I know that i wont be able to hold in my tears when i have to explain to the guests what happened. Everyone loved her more than anything. As of today i will never be the same.

I worked with Miss C when we opened the Addison store 2 years ago. My first conversation with her went like this: ME: "Good Morning Miss C. How are you today? Miss C: I'm good baby. And if it ain't good, I make it good!" That is Miss C. I love her. She will make it good.

Yes, Ms. C. was given the options of others. I have heard that she may "accept" the 1/3 less pay and stay for awhile. They should be ashamed, after 27 years service, a loyal guest base that has followed her everywhere, paying her the same as a new hire. She is a love and a WF icon, her feistiness was always a joy to work with, and I could always find a hug with Ms. C. Shame on those that made the decisions Addison, what goes around comes around.

Another former WF customer here, absolutely appalled at what happened to Miss C. Will shop anywhere else but there now, this is some BS.

I worked with Miss C and there is no better human on this earth! I will make my way over to Addison just to see her and hope she is not gone!!! WFM has truly lost it here with the people the are letting go. I feel like the drivers in Planes, Trains & Automobiles screaming on the highway to John Candy & Steve Martin: "You're Going The Wrong WAAAYYYY"!!!! Just sad!

It is true. Miss C was let go. I understand she's considering reapplying, though.

Just a feeling on my part. I was hoping I'd find someone here who knows. I know a couple of other favorites who are gone.

Yes, you bet it is! Don't think for a minute you outstanding employees who built the company won't be missed by your customers! The extra care you put into your jobs was what made WF so special, it was a community we as customers felt a part of. You will be sorely missed. It is seriously their loss. Don't lose your hope in your next endeavors, just because you got burned by WF. Standouts will always be standouts wherever they go. The world needs you! Stay good.

Thank you for support.

Know we as team members appreciate hearing from the guests we had come to know over the years who understand our anger, frustration and fears.

I am sorry for you all as well. Its a loss for those outside wfm when you think on it.
