Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

express yourself without fear but not with hate

Do not be afraid to express your first amendment rights here. Saying that please don't insult your TLs and ATLs, they are more on our side than you think. The STL at my store looks so sad. She has a big heart and this is not her doing. My TL is super supportive. I hope that more people are having that experience with fellow workers. Saying that...I am pissed and don't want to work for a company that does this and puts its employees through all this. I am sick when I walk through the doors at work. Arm yourself with knowledge, support one another and vent on this site, but remember that the people in our stores are not our enemy. Stop drinking the kool-aid of keep calm and carry on - this is just the start.

My STl is most decidedly a human being. But he has to decide where his own line is. At what point does he say this is enough..

You're lucky you have a life form as an STL. I am certain ours is a cyborg, incapable of emotion, oh yeah, except when talking about the latest tribal gathering. Then, the tears flow freely. The entire leadership team at our store goosestepped their way down this path without question, hesitation or reason. No danger of free thought or innovation or Team Member happiness at our store. Looking for a new job.

I am not close to my STL, however...he was extremely sad when I said that I wanted to take the severance rather than reapply. He complimented me and said he'd probably just rehire me if I applied, but on a personal level it won't be the same. I have my pride too and to be treated unfairly and have to go through everything I fought hard to achieve the first time...walking away was far more appealing.

Im sure you know them all personally..

Im sure you know their morals, ethics and emotions based solely on a title.

They are being duped just as much as we all were. Theyre team members too.

I want to see an entire leadership team walk out. They all read this and watch. But who has the balls to act.

They are in fear too. They are at risk inevitably.

You guys ever hear the term "crocodile tears"? Your poor STL is doing just fine.

Your store leadership seems respectable. The way leadership should be. I don't pity mine. They took a bad situation and jumped the gun to make it worse. They just tossed out our people without properly explaining their options and had to bring them back in later. And now seem to try acting as though nothing happened. And my TL has spilled innocent blood before and will surely do so again if it benefits his image. They are the product and perpetuators of a toxic culture. Screw them, I'm glad the store hates them now.

Absolutely. Hell I even went into work voluntarily today on my day off to support my team. Family first and these folks have become that. Not feeling like anything is safe now though. Very rough time for morale. This is when appreciating what you do have and focusing on that is most important.

Yeah, its bad. I am angry and I want to leave, but I see my STL look at us and she just looks so sad. She is wonderful. People she loves are leaving. The south is a pretty sad place right now. The one thing I can say is how much I love my co workers and admire people not competing and people leaving with dignity and not freaking out. Everyone has been crying, but no one has made an unnecessary spectacle. Thank you south region folks for loving each other no matter what. Thank you to the TLs at my store not afraid to talk to us and reassure us in the only way you know how....listen. Thank you to my STL for sharing your smile with us through this and trying your best everyday. Been with the company 3 years, but I haven't been in this store long, but it feels like home. This sucks.

I agree. My STL and TL respected and understood my decision to take severance (Thankfully found an upgrade of a new job). I made it clear to them and everyone I worked with on my team that I appreciated my time there but if Whole Foods wants to make a business decision than I would choose my own business decision. The morale, benefits, and attitude will only decline even more over the next few days when October hits. And who knows what the next few weeks hold.

Hope everyone benefits and enjoys the decision the go with.
