Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Livingston, Scotland.

Just been told they are closing the Livingston Manufacturing Plant in Scotland by December. It has been up and running now for some 20 years, doing all the pioneering Machining work for the Welldynamic's Division. People with 20 years service dropped in a heartbeat.... people's lives now devastated. Decisions to close, may come back and bite Halliburton when the price of oil increases in the future. A case of faceless men in suits and ties, sitting behind desks making arbitrary decisions if you ask me.

Can't believe Livingston closure. Help us look for ways to keep site open hmmmmmm. Answer to that's clear cause advised if a financial benefit idea don't bother. Finance apparently not the issue. Is purely down to product. Well here we are some 60+ people just treading water and the time wasted to come up with suggestions for a miracle. Aint no answer to keeping Livingston open.

Merry Christmas to everyone eh!!!

If you can't believe you're on this site reading all the crap, why are you writing it. Sounds like you should be going, if you can get your head out of your boss's butt.

I can't believe I'm on this site reading all the crap that's on here. Look, we all know that times are hard in the oil business just now and that jobs are going to be lost but do we need all this speculation? At the moment that's all it is. What's with the gossip mongers? If it happens it happens and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it but for the time being I for one am just gonna get on with my work and feel for the people who have already lost their jobs. QUIT THE TITTLE TATTLE!

Arbroath plant has room to expand, has test pits and is owned (not rented) by Halliburton so your point is pointless.

Baker at aberdeen is a huge plant with test pits and cheap rent,,,arbroath plant too small and will be mothballed,,,,good luck

My dear brothers and sister, I feel your pain. This news saddens me a ton, I have work with you people, and the experience you all have and shared is one that cannot just be replaced easily. What happens now is extremely poor management by the almighty, and it will come back to bite the company (not them of course), to them we are just numbers, but to me we are all humans. All the best to you all.

Of course they are nearly faceless, what do you expect ? Their important moments are right now, this very second. That is the way they work. By the time oil comes back, they will have landed a job somewhere else with a large corporation and on their resume it will show how hard they worked at Halliburton through these difficult times to roll back the employment and save cash. Oh my, it was a difficult decision but someone had to do it. Heard that before ??? And by the way, they will never miss an $18,000 a month paycheck. Their successors can always hire new people later, whenever, but really they have no time to worry about such frivolous things.

Sorry to hear that out Scottish brother and sisters, we're going thru the same emotions here I the USA, all we are is a number to them, we are all expendable. They don't care what happens to any of us. At least you all have a heads up and can start preparing and find other jobs. God bless and good luck
