I have a feeling this is going to get me some serious backlash, but I just can't stay quite anymore. We live in a country that runs on capitalism. The objective on any business regardless of its size is to make a profit. Why hate on that? The only other alternative is to live in a socialistic society, but if we do that then everyone is the same regardless of how hard they do or don't work. There's no incentive for anyone to want better. Bottom line here is that reality sucks! If you came into this industry thinking you would make a killing the rest of your life then you're either ignorant or flat out stupid! Anyone with half a brain has been saving since day one. Besides, does anyone really think the folks at the local level are enjoying any of this? I can tell you that my DM and HR manager are miserable! They don't like it anymore than the person they are laying off. BTW, I'm not in management, I have no say, I am just a regular employee same as many of you. Give them a break, they aren't the ones sitting in the C-Suite offices checking their stocks and bank balances as it all falls apart. As for Miller and Lesar, As I said above, the objective of business is to make a profit, they have to do what has to be done. I for one am thankful that I have had the opportunity to save more in a smaller amount of time with this company. They have always treated me will here and the employee benefits are outstanding! It's a career that I would come back to when the market comes back (because it ALWAYS comes back eventually) should I be laid off as well. Count your blessings and be thankful for what you have had and been able to learn, stop being so bitter!!!

I agree as well. Keep your head down and do a good job and you might be keep your job. However it is hard not to have a negative attitude when you see such major issues and injustice. When you see people not pulling their weight, come and go as they please with no set hours - they say they are taking vacation but never get charged for it cause they seem to have more vacation that guys that have been here for 40 years - THEY know they are protected - and YOU know they are protected because of who they are related to or their last name. They don't have a clue how to do their job - but they can BS with the best of them. It's sad because when the time comes they will still be here - their names will not be on the list. Instead there will be some good workers walked out. It's a shame but it's the truth. That is why there is so much hate and bitterness on here. It's a place to vent, I guess.
I don't understand why you would get any backlash on this. You are 100% correct. I have little mouths to feed, college tuition for kids' to pay....but If I have come in here doing my job to the best of my ability and have been a good employee...then I have done my part. I too, like you, am so very thankful for this company for giving me the means to provide and save and for the outstanding benefits they provide for me and my family.
Capitalism can be pretty cut-throat sometimes, but yeah it's still much better than pure socialism.
