Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Anybody else in SO region still waiting for a severance?

I've been reading/hearing rumors about people on final warning being next to get chopped. I'm on final. Ive also been looking to change careers lately, so kind of hoping I'll get the shoulder tap. Anybody know what's up with the south region? Seems like either we didn't lose many people, or they're just not posting here.

Augusta is already a combined team store. Also, we already had a round of layoffs a month ago that laid off people on finals in job performance.if you are a very low volume store it can happen to you!

Chapel Hill lost everyone in marketing and demo but one. Front end went from 7 to 5 supervisors. Grocery, frozen, bulk are going from 5 to 2 buyers and several of the teams are combining. They lost an astl at the beginning of the summer that was not replaced. Whole body is losing a buyer. There are more changes but I'm not sure what they are.

I believe that regional presidents were given the option of how to do the layoffs in their particular region. I've seen from this website that at least one region did lay off everyone who was on final warning. However, I think most regions aren't doing this. SO so far has not, and I don't think I'd count on it--but you never know. Part of the reason you may not be hearing about layoffs in your store is because buyers and specialist interviews are today and tomorrow, so some folks are still hoping they'll get to keep their job--or something like it.

SO Region in Charlotte here. We cut the same positions (sups, buyers, marketing, demo), and with the people who can't reapply and the people who just walked away, we lost about 15 - 20 people. We're a pretty high volume store ($850k a week), so we're not combining Groc/Spec/WB.

I think someone posted GHL lost 22 people. Who knows when the next cuts will be. More than likely after holidays.

The high volume stores like Chapel Hill are seeing very few firings from what I read earlier on the site. They've already launched Mobile with a combined Groc-Spec-WB team so that should tell you how Cross Hill, Augusta etc will probably end up. It is happening.
