That way we'll know who to congratulate or console.

172648 is right... wanting to know the names of the unfortunate is just being nosy...
My name is Ryan Lance, and I was just fired.
PS. If you do care and aren't trolling, why don't you go ahead and post your name and contact information, so they can reach out to you personally?
Not going to go negative on you 172646, but yes, it is disrespectful. If you cared at all about the individuals, you wouldn't be pushing for them to be named here.
Not B.S. Especially if they were hoping to be selected.
This is B.S. If they want you to know if they've been laid off, they will reach out to you. Show some respect and let people exit with as much dignity as they can.
If they were volunteers, why not share their names???
Thankfully the ones I know of who were laid off were "volunteers" /signed the EOI and were ready and happy to go with a severance. I hope this saves jobs for some of the other folks who aren't in a position to be laid off at this stage of their lives.
OP and anon 172537 are just trolling, like many on this board...
Probably no salt in the wound intended. Might just want to see if they recognize anybody's name so they can send them an "I'm sorry to hear the bad news" or "Hey -- glad this worked out for you" note.
Yes rub salt into the wound. And I would gladly rub salt into the wound for the idiot supervisor responsible for a premature departure. Let the games begin.
