Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Mid Atlantic what a joke. They should get rid of these positions....

All these layoffs yet regional is so top heavy.

Coordinator of stakeholder support. What does that even mean? It means Ken Meyer when he was regional president gave her a made up title to increase salary to coordinator level from being a recruits (hmm wonder why he did that)

Executive coordinator of construction and a construction coordinator. Why not just have one coordinator? Does Mark even like talking to people?

Executive coordinator of marketing (who is savvy in marketing but CLUELESS about our stores) why the need for an executive marketing coordinator and a coordinator and like 3 ACs? Why not just make Kristin do her damn job better

Executive finance coordinator and a finance coordinator?

Executive TMS and TMs coordinator? I know Christian Left so maybe they will be smart and not fill position and just have Dave actually do something.

Culinary Coordinator and culinary AC?

Grocery has SIX associate coordinators.

Looks like there were many other more costly cuts that could have been made

Mid Atlantic is such a joke. You could fire ninety percent of these people, and no one would even notice. I delete about 100 emails every day without even looking at them.

The next round of cuts will be made on the regional team. Some are hardworking people who dedicated their careers to WFM and don't make a lot, believe it or not. Others make a shit-ton and do NOTHING. The sad reality is whether it's a supervisor, a buyer, a team leader, an associate coordinator or a coordinator losing jobs, it's still not the people who deserve it: the ones at the top who mismanaged the business. The regional presidents, vice presidents and executive coordinators. Keep the people in the stores who know how to make money. Fire the ones who spend it.

Asking the same question in the PN. "Executive" is just a title created to award more money. Like if tomorrow we gave all tms the title of "super tm". Some regions over the last year have eliminated some ECs, making them apply for coordinator and making the coordinators below them reapply for associate roles. Hopefully we will see more of this in the PN.

I know right... LOL about the gourmet emails. "I was so enamored by this or that item in the chef's case that I had to have three servings, then wash it all down with some fabulous Gewürztraminer because it just pairs so well with whatever I'm shoveling down at the moment. That is, everything in sight."

Was Data unification not meant to take away some of these "bedroom made" regional positions? Wholefoods never ceases to amaze me, one region fired all HSH team members but kept the coordinator. Awesome! Fires all marketing team leaders and keep Executive coordinator and 3 associates. Now that's brilliant!

And why do we need all these various made-up positions to do the same thing (mostly nothing) in 12 different ways with 12 different support staffs in 12 (count 'em) regions? INCLUDING the grand poo-bahs, the Regional Presidents and Vice Presidents...all of them? What EXACTLY are they doing other than picking bad locations, making bad decisions, sucking up most of the money and walking around looking at the little people do all the work while they make critical comments on how the cheese and apples are stacked? Our "region" consisted of an abusurdly large swath of North America from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic Ocean. Philadelphia was half as far away as Jackson, Mississippi and our area (the Triangle) had no connection with Memphis or Birmingham. The TMs (and our customers) were from mostly local, or from the midwest, PA, DC and the mid-Atlantic area, Florida and other areas of North Carolina. Even the governor of NC is a native of freakin' Ohio. Also, the logistics were just ridiculous, where product would be shipped all the way to Atlanta just to come back east. We are 80 miles closer to the LANDOVER distribution center than Braselton! I mean, DUH!!! By the way, Mr. Regional Vice-President for Eating: NO ONE CARES what you ate for dinner last night or what wine you are guzzling. STFU with your stupid emails about what a big gourmet you are. You do nothing except travel, look at the wine, cheese and hot bar, and eat.

It looks like further cuts will be made, especially with the ACs visiting many of the stores. They probably know their time is up, as it should be.
