Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Tomorrow - Chevron Layoffs (October 7, 2015)

Notifications to laid off Chevron workers will begin tomorrow morning and go on through possibly next Monday. I would expect a large and polished company-wide communication to be distributed to all employees sometimes today or very early tomorrow. Please note that all of this is just something that I have a gut feel about and I am not posting any insider information about Chevron Layoffs.

If the OP only had a "gut feeling" and they were this close to accurate, I want the OP to pick my lottery numbers for Tuesday night. You are a psychic!!!

Uhh, let's just say this post was extremely misleading and totally off base. There never was even a shred of truth in it. "Gut Feeling" was the only thing truthful about it. If people want to go around posting "Gut Feelings" please stay in the Yahoo! comments section where you belong.

Thanks for reading.

I'm claiming responsibility for the "erite" post.. Spelling mistakes are just a pet peeve of mine, especially when the person that makes one (or more, in the example) is trying to come off as a elite genius, instead of showing their true colors as an "expert on nothing"... I had to type "erite" more than once because autocorrect stepped in and tried to save me from the mistake, so there's no excuse for that.. And no, I'm definitely not a "chevronite".. My husband got cut in the August round, and I have another relative that squeaked by this week's round.. I don't know which one of them is actually better off 😕

So guys and gals - forget all the spelling mistakes - what happened at the office today? How were the notifications handled? Which groups heard the news today?

The self-anointed spelling expert attacks co-workers' typos. What kind of person takes that role? A true Chevronite.

there is this thing called misspellings when using smart phones ... and then there is the autocorrect which creates more issues ... that was good, having typos when criticizing others ...

Let me guess? You spent a better part of an hour of work time on your reply to this post. Let me help you:

  1. Afraid

  2. Write

  3. It's "poor English" not poorly in English.

More importantly you missed the entire point of the post! FYI - good writing is substance and structure over appearance and least of all spelling. Meanwhile, have some more Kool Aid, you earned it.

Those of us who consistently do quality work, and are good team workers, have nothing to fear. Those of us who are a bi-product of our excessive spending culture, and unnecessary expats who contribute to the "excess fat" Chevron is becoming known for worldwide, should be affraid! Be very affraid! Your luck ran out...

On another note, some of the commenters write very poorly in English. If you erite this poorly in your native language, you are probably incompetent, and should invest in some writting skills training after you're laid off.

It's late afternoon and nobody around me has heard a thing. Go look at the ROM intranet site. There is an announcement there that says it could be next week, due to the large number of notifications. Seems cruel - we've been waiting since February.

My boss told me this morning in my case he will not tell me my fate as someone else will tell me, but he did not know who or when or how! Can this ROM process be any more mysterious or confusing (or screwed up)??? It's like "death by a thousand paper cuts"! Hope others fare better.

Still Waiting - my guess is that you were selected and the position owner has to be the one who notifies you, therefore your boss can't say anything. If you were left standing, I would imagine it would be your boss that would have to deliver that message.

ETC-TC managers are contacting their employees via phone call followed by a secure email to confirm the job offer. ETC-ESD employees are all locked out of their UNIX accounts until notifications have been made. Yikes!

The oil and gas sector knows that if you were with Chevron, you probably will have to be retrained and cleansed of all the CPDEP, Chevron Way, Streatch Break BS.

If you are laid off, don't expect to get a job anytime soon, most likely you will be out of work for 6 months to year. Most companies don't hire in the 4th quarter, nor 1st or 2nd. So good luck and have a Merry Christmas without a job.

Tomorrow is the day our GM in the department will let us our fate with Chevron. I can't wait to get this over. There is a lot of anxiety around here and it's going to be a great relief to get this over with. Good luck to my fellow coworkers.
