Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Supervisor said I was being laid off, left the room (REPOST)

In Calgary, I received a call from a meeting room on my floor. My supervisor was on the phone, asking me to come to the meeting room. There was an HR person in the meeting room as well. Supervisor said I was being laid off, left the room. HR person handed me my package and told me a person from the Outplacement firm would be coming in to talk to me about the services that would be available to me. HR person left, outplacement rep came in, spoke for a bit. Total process took about 15 minutes. Was allowed to go back to my desk unescorted to get my things. They give you an envelope to put your card key, Visa, phone, etc., and you leave that on your desk. They give you a taxi chit to get home.

Same here, I am in Calgary - the same thing happened with me. Nothing to complain about as it relates to professionalism. I can gripe about the decision, but that's a different topic
