Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Get rid of HR

Once they get rid of all the regular employees and are down to just contractors, they can get rid of HR.

Also, since compensation is directly related to the number of direct reports and their total compensation, the "Leadership" Team should be up for a pay cut.

Right?

What makes you think you would be paid more or get treated better in a cube? The company would just be further in debt with no return to show for it.

I would gladly work in a cube if it means better pay for performance and better treatment.

I don't know about you, but I work for the money - not for a pretty view, or to be out in a room with a door.

I love all of the comments about the last HR VP working to help employees and getting fired for it... it shows how little people understand. Don't forget that she was the one who was pushing the plan to spend hundreds of millions to put everyone in cubicles!

989,

Yes, I do.

Your comments make perfect sense, but the OP is nonsense.

A 172971 You don't understand enough what happened with the HR VP to make a comment as noted by your comparison to Finance. The VP of HR was going to bat for the staff against Ryan Lance to improve the rating system. COP uses a bell curve rating system that leaves the vast majority of staff with a rating of 3. When seasoned staff receive 3's for years on end, BECAUSE they are doing the job as they are expected to do it, there's not much incentive to improve. The VP's disagreement with Ryan Lance ended her career.

Going by your logic, COP should fire all Finance people because COP is losing money...

The issue is not HR but weak HR. The last HP VP worked to address the HR issues at COP and is not longer with the company.
