Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Anything in Bartlesville?

It has been so quiet, curious where they are.

Issued today regarding news about office building purchase - "Several news articles are circulating concerning ConocoPhillips’ intention to purchase Energy Center 3 in Houston and have created a lot of questions. These articles are inaccurately reporting that ConocoPhillips is purchasing the building when, in fact, we intend to continue leasing but at a lower cost. This reporting is inconsistent with our company-wide efforts to reduce costs. ConocoPhillips routinely evaluates its real estate portfolio and other real estate opportunities in order to identify and capture cost savings for the company. I want to assure everyone that any actions we pursue relative to our real estate portfolio would be to spend less, not more, in keeping with our company-wide efforts to manage costs. Our lease at Energy Center 3 remains in effect."

Research center layoffs 40% this week but laid off employees have been asked to continue working for 21 days or until their work has been transitioned to the new person.

In other words, KPMG has been engaged to determine how to facilitate the finance move from Bartlesville to Houston and into the new Energy Center 3 building we just bought.

Reference source to the KPMG note below-

"After assessing a number of firms to help us identify improvement opportunities beyond the COST project, KPMG has been engaged due to their extensive experience and proprietary tools that they’ve successfully employed to systematically evaluate financial processes and transactions in both our and other industries. The project planning for this additional effort is already underway. Clay Selby, bringing expertise from his recent involvement on the COST team as well as experience from multiple headquarters and business unit roles, will be leading the coordination of this project. Over the next 10 to 12 weeks we will be working closely with KPMG to review our organization, develop a more in depth understanding of our function in comparison to external Finance organizations, and explore opportunities for change in alignment with our new company philosophies. I anticipate changes resulting from the work with KPMG to primarily be implemented in 2016."

I was told that the majority of lay-offs will happen next week as Finance and IT are working to close September business this week.

It's not downtown Bville but we heard lots (40%?) out at the Research Center on Tuesday. I think they are not yet done here.

The majority of Bville is finance/controllers....they engaged KPMG to study and recommend and implement in 2016... This means they get to wonder and wait until early next year...and will be in a bad spot when Ryan sees that laying off workers while keeping high SGL management didn't get his billion....

And They're coming to take me away Ha Ha, They're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha, to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time, and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats, and they're coming to take me away ha ha

-- You thought it was joke and so you laughed, you laughed when I had said that losing you would make me flip my lid, right? You know you laughed, I heard you laugh, you laughed, you laughed and laughed and then you left, but now you know I'm utterly mad.

Only ones I know of are the ones who asked to be laid off. They did those and haven't done anything since it appears.
