Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

It was a business decision

I've heard some say that losing a job can be as hard as experiencing a death in the family, psychologically. For some of us going to work may be our home away from home. Perhaps it's the only workplace you've known. Regardless of the situation, it's never easy.

I've been through a few downturns, and rounds of layoffs, on both sides of the table. There was a time I hit rock bottom after losing a job and someone I barely knew spoke some words I'll never forget...

"It's just a job."

You're not defined by what you do with your life from 9-5. Jobs come and go. Life goes on.

Agree. My Dad didn't give me a lot of good advice, but one thing I'll always remember he said was, "Work to live not live to work."

It is a PERSONAL decision for those affected. The stupidest thing the company can tell someone they are laying off, is it's just business.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh. Have to carry our crosses with faith.
