Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

One big question: How does the leadership of this company EVER expect to win back the trust of their team members?

I get it. Companies have layoffs and they downsize. But for a company that claims to care so much about its core values of team member happiness and excellence and customer service to handle what's happened like it has feels like betrayal. Why are we blaming this all on competition and not owning up to the fact that a LOT of the reason we're having to cut spending so much is because of years and years of crummy leadership and crappy operational decisions. Not everyone. There are definitely some good eggs out there trying to do the right thing, but we haven't adjusted our structure to match our growth, and now everyone is suffering. I have been here for over 13 years, and just want to be able to believe in what I'm doing again, and I'm not sure that I'll be able to knowing how little we are valued.

They don't need your trust. They need your skills. We made a huge error this spring when we ignored the serious action by our competitors to take our customers through lower prices. They made better choices regarding store location development and invested in tech much earlier. We were complacent. We thought we could ride on our good name. Now we are in deep shit because we have to sacrifice our best assets: our passion and commitment to save this company. The culling has just begun. The only aim is profit. It was hidden by good works and kind sentiment, but it is very plain now. Your skills are of value, you choose whether WFM deserves them.

Some things cant be fixed. that's just the reality. By caving in to Wall St, they revealed that we are NOT valued.

They have no skin in the game at this point. They're (corporate) getting theirs, and we are getting hung out to dry. They realize also that trust can never be regained-- they knew it the moment the decision was made. there would be NO going back.even they're not that stupid. Though at this point the whole trust thing kind of irrelevant since WF is most likely being sold...

Yes, they F***ed up, and yes we are paying for it now. and No, they don't care...maybe they DID care at one point, but perhaps after realizing how daunting a task catching the competition would be, they made what is perhaps the most rational decision they've made in years and just started trolling for a buyer...
