The Kurds just want to be free and to have their own country where they are not oppressed or discriminated. They don't want sharia law in fact that's one reason they are fighting ISIS. These layoffs aren't about who's a better worker than the other, it's about saving money and usually the better worker is more expensive to keep. Directors are told they need to reduce payroll by x amount and they don't care how they get there.
