Newest round of layoffs seems to be the Campus Directors getting let go. Awful nice of the company to send out letters to the management team stating a date that our job is set to expire with details of a bonus package if we elect to stay on board until that preset date, and then 6 weeks later go back on their word and terminate the Presidents!

Campus Directors are being replaced by area presidents who are overseeing multiple school in a geographic region. This model becomes feasible because the enrollments are dwindling so much that there is less to oversee. This model was announced some weeks back as a part of the Brown Mackie restructuring. But this does nothing to address the changes that need to made at Central Services.

Oh please, what do those guys do anyway? All those schools need are the instructors, a few admin people and one guy at the top like the President. You dont need multi-layered management like Deans, Directors and Assistance. And those are all high paying fluff jobs. In the real world that much fluff is not tolerated in successful companies. If your job is not directly related to profit such as instructors who do the actual teaching or reps who actually get the student in the door, the rest is filler and niceties. Like wouldn't it be nice if every department had a manger, (Directors) and the managers would have a manager (Dean) and a manager for the school (president) who reports to the Management of the company. Directors can be part time Instructors, and the Dean's job can easily go to the President.

I don't quite understand. Why fire them? i know it's all about money, but how does EDMC save money by laying them off? Are they getting cheaper replacements? Are the campuses being run by remote control? By Ultron? By Roombas?
