Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Halliburton Charity Golf Tournament Oct. 13 & 14

If you are part of the group of the recently unemployed Halliburton folks, please plan to attend the Halliburton Charity Golf Tournament next week. Your former friends and executives will need your help to cheer them on. Heck, they'll probably even let you carry their clubs for them. Please don't distract them while they concentrate on their shot or putt. Just come on out and get your charity entertainment and meal. This might be your last opportunity to participate in a company sponsored event. ENJOY!!!!!!!

Score? The score is in the "NETWORKING"!!! ....lol .. They were able to "score" by ensuring they would not be affected by the layoff. Networking goes a long way to make sure you are safe. It allows one to spew B.S to a captive audience. This is how good managers get tricked by crappy employees - by listening to the B.S, over and over.

Wow, the general manager told me I could use the company credit card to buy a new set of clubs for the tournament!! That is really nice of them. It's probably because I work a lot harder than most.

We just learned about the fabulous meal that is planned for after the tournament. 5 star meal. It's nice to know that Halliburton cares about its executives. I love these events.

I wanted to make a donation based on what I got as a severance package, but that wouldn't even give me a Recognition on the event program nor website.

As a VP myself, I understand upholding the image, but I agree with the overall question that has been raised on this thread (although not the language). Why did the DMC management not take a different individual this year. Why take the same individual as last year. It does appear to be favoritism. Also, if the person in question is in fact related to another manager, it would also make it unethical as I see it.

We executives must uphold a certain image even though the company may be low on money. That is one of the main reasons we must have layoffs. It is a sad reality.

No way dude....you can't go...not even allowed to take vaca to play...haha..been down this road bro. To quote my site super "Only managment can play, Sorry." So if the little dude is going to play as you point out, then bro you really do have some managers not just bending the rules...they are reshaping them. Maybe little dude is a ringer???? Or maybe he is just the caddy....lol if he plays bad he could be at the top of the layoff list....just a thought.

All info on the tournament can be found at the below link. Please note that all of the high dollar entries are sold out. Maybe they will let us lowlifes watch if we are quiet and don't holler "Get in the "Hole!" after every putt......lol

Hi ya'll, this may be an appropriate venue to remind folks that with the upcoming charity season becoming to bloom it may now be more important than ever to make sure you make the right choices for giving. Just think of it as being involved with your future so to speak. No contribution is too large. Don't be the "number" on the spreadsheet without that box checked. And, by the way make sure all your training CBT's are caught up and your career profile updated. You never know........

OH BULLSHIT "MR VP OF OPERATIONS" MY ASS!!! If you would bother to READ the post - it is about wasting money and it is about a LOW level guy - who is going to play with the BIG BOYS - A guy whose head is to big for his shoulders because of the special treatment from the managers - because he keeps his head so far up their ass that before they fart, he knows what they had for dinner the night before! If it is for a good cause - spread the joy - allow others to participate - don't continue to display poor ethics year after year by showing favoritism to someone whose only skills are those of a salesman and it seems to Golf. If this individual was not related to someone in HR or could not play golf, would he be invited???? Or would they invite someone else to participate?? I am sure that there are others here at DMC that can golf. BUT THEY HAVE NEVER BOTHERED TO ASK!!!! So it makes the money that is spent appear frivolous to others because it is blatant unethical favoritism!!!!!

You common folk should hear about the "team building" trip us managers took to Thailand a few months back. That was too fun. Can't wait for the next one after my hip replacement.

Now now fellas, don't be like that. We have all worked hard to get to the top. We deserve to have a nice day of golf. The company cares about its executives. If they need to let a few lower level folks go so we can afford the cost, so be it.

Absolutely!! You might even see some employees that are NOT managers or execs playing!! Lets talk about conserving money!!! I understand that this is for charity and it is for a good cause but - Explain to me why would Halliburton ALLOW the wasteful spending of money on hotel stays for a less than average employee (not a manager - not even close except in his own mind) to attend - nay - participate in - the event - not to mention, meals, transportation and what not (expensive goodie bags). Not even charging vacation time. We are supposed to be cutting back on frivolous expenditures. I have been told that this individual can play golf. Did they bother to ask anyone else if they can play?? I do not recall hearing of any signups for volunteers or if our names were put in a hat for a drawing. Funny thing is the same person did this last year. They should give another person a shot at this free fun filled PAID GOLF VACATION!!! Very unethical. Then again, when you keep your nose up all of the managers butts all the time they probably feel obligated to take you - especially since ALL you KNOW is GOLF - cause that is what will get you promoted around here :-) Oh.... and who you are related to.....
