Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

The Most Insensitive Post Possible

Yet, still the truth. To those let go and about to let go...see ya. Obviously COP and you were no longer a fit. Everybody is replaceable and it is your turn to accept some responsibility for what has or will happen to you. Whether you're gone because you're black, white or some other minority, you're probably right. If you think you didn't kiss enough ass, you're probably right. If you think you're gone because of your age, a high salary grade with no people below you, or simply because you didn't fit in, you'll be right about that too. Too young and not here long enough to prove yourself? Yep, right about that too. The plain fact is you didn't do, keep doing, or possibly never did, what others have that remain with the company. Stop whining and take some personal responsibility for why you're gone. Did they completely eliminate your job or function? Doubtful. So someone is staying behind doing what you used to do and behaving, working, or being paid differently than you to not get laid off. Under the veneer of Spirit values are cold hard facts that COP is a company like every other company. They pay people to do something. There is no company loyalty. There is no employee loyalty. Employees are commodities. There is no "family". That's just smoke and mirrors for people to feel better about working with a bunch of other people. The company owes you nothing. Zero. 1 year or 41 years, the company paid you and owes you nothing beyond that. The temptation is to blame management because you're insulted by your firing - no point mincing words here. Still they fired you, so something about you and/or work differentiated you from someone that didn't get fired. Suck it up buddy. Quit posting you got the raw end of the deal. You got what you deserved. Nothing more, nothing less. Sympathy? None here.

You were laid off for not going bar hopping in Vietnam? Well you should be, what kind of oilfield hand are you?

It is a wildcatters god given right to frolic in the fields of whores & whiskey at every port or little shithole on earth we go, to punch a hole in the ground.

Oh geez sorry for being rude, for some reason I was thinking you were a hole maker.. You are most defiantly not.

Shot at & missed, shit at & hit.

I think people are missing the point. Everybody wants to bitch and moan about the mistakes the company has made that led to their termination. Somehow, hiring the complainer in the first place is never one of them. Get real. Shit happens and companies make mistakes. Blame the market if you have to, because this wouldn't be happening if oil were 100+. Look in the mirror. You were canned yet many more remain employed. Figure that out and it's not the company's fault. Whether you're black, gay, pregnant, or your kid is a paraplegic. I don't care and COP don't care. It all comes down to numbers. Boo f*cking hoo. When 6 year olds drop and break the glass, they blame wet hands, the floor or gravity. Whiners here are no better. You're gone now, so shut up.

Call me daddy, guess those who were thrown overboard that joined the company to operate & work on the drill ship that we are going to a few hundred million to not operate are to blame in not cutting it. Yes, guess they do in you view point in joining a two bit company that now has run out of GOM deepwater twice with our heads between our legs!

Not exactly true. Some of the layoffs occurred because of bad strategic decisions such as being overly optimistic with the shales, hiring too many people, over spending on projects, poor field development etc etc. Many of these people who made these mistakes are still there.

Well then. Must be the six foot meat head or his little Mini Me crack head. Both of you never cease to amaze me. There is nothing to suck up "buddy". I don't hit the bong like you and your goonies. Take another hit from the bong and go pontificate about how you wish you bought Cal 20 . I'm still in the pack asshole because its too easy to fool both of you. I do suck up enough and kiss your ass. I keep close, so I can make a difference when it counts. Based off your post, you show just how cold you are. The purpose of my post is not to whine, no purpose in that. It's to show how ridiculous the organization has become while working under current management. To keep doing the same action and expect a different result is the definition of insanity, and that's what we have done for the last 15 years. Thus, the reason so many are loosing their jobs. Do you think buying Burlington at 8.25 was a sound and strategic decision? Old M got rewarded like no other while hard working folks were took out to the wood shed. Our Risk Manager calculated incorrect VAR for over a decade, does this not bother you? Managers go on company trips and don't even show up to the meetings, you don't want to hold our leaders accountable? I have to use the forum due to the concepts you have articulated above (people are just commodities). You don't have to call out the truth, I'm fully aware of how management views all my colleagues. I care about the spirit and core values. All you care about is protecting your position. Every dog has his day. Again, I wasn't fired, I'm still here. I'm sick of watching what you do to peoples families at the expense of your inability to manage and lead. I fully understand your leadership qualities stem from Texas Tech. That says it all. PS EX TRADER implies I don't trade anymore, doesn't mean Ex Employee. I guess they didn't teach you critical thinking at Texas Tech you dumb cold asshole.

Call me a Daddy-you are either 1) an insensitive asshole, or 2) one of the clowns making these decisions. No matter, karma's a bitch and she will find you.
