Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

San Diego Union Tribune reported that the layoff of 1314 employees did NOT include contract and part-time workers. So what is the real number?

174865: "all employees except managers" -- that's a sizable chunk of Qualcomm, so they need to cut more!

It will turn out to be: all Qcom employees fired except managers. Sigh!

QC needs to bring the headcount down to the industry norm. This will take some time to realize, because organizations are not only top heavy with too many status guys, but also have too much redundancy. Nowhere else do you see so many contractors on top of duplicated projects. Next round has to be bigger than the first round.

Double. Lots of contractors and temps were let go. But they may be brought back if the team can't meet schedule. LOL

Who the hell cares what the exact number was? Bottom line is that it was probably not enough and more cuts are coming.
