Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

HR loves the power and flourish in this time . . . .

The HR people are arrogant snobs and love the power!! I have one that is a VERY close family member and believe me, she relishes in the power!! Don't be fooled by any concern that they might show. They also think that they are above getting the axe themselves! If they did not love firing people and the power that goes with their position, they would not have gotten into HR.

Can someone please explain the HR and cat connection? Every time there is a discussion about HR, cats seem to be referenced?

HR is a joke. You go to them for help and they can't even get their facts and story straight. One day they tell you one thing and something totally different the same week. Those HR book behind your desk look great. Maybe its time to put a crease in them and read them. They are not for decoration.

HR does not do the hiring and firing; HR does the paperwork for the hiring and firing. Noted time and time again, HR at ConocoPhillips is weak. The HR staff at ConocoPhillips are not well versed on labor laws. One HR manager stated company policy supersedes federal labor laws. Legal guidance first, labor laws second.

175371 finally someone speaks the truth. People who degrade others without knowing facts are hiding behind their own inadequacies

Well the HR rep in my area is a joke. She can't or won't help any employee with anything. Just gives you a card and tells you maybe HR connections can answer your questions. Not only are there things that go on that are wrong, there are also things that are down right illegal going on. Those that speak up are retaliated against and the others are promoted.

They will be back in Kenedy to start laying off once again.

Supposedly the middle and upper management will be let go on this round, especially a couple of department leads.

Before the end of the month a good percentage of the WGP and FC contractors will be let go to make room for the Conoco employees that will be headed that way.

It is very sad and unfortunate that this many people will lose their jobs, especially in a time like this.

I just hope someone gets really feed up and retaliates.

There is actually a book describing certain sociopaths who desire the work to fire, layoff, demote, reorganize, eliminate work groups, etc. with in organizations.

The sociopaths are within the ranks of management.

What difference does it make if they care or not? If you get laid off you get laid off. This the kind of logic you bring to work everyday?

Wow, your sense of worth and what is going on is very clouded. I personally know several COP HR people who were laid off. And the ones left get the "job" of being the messenger only to be likely laid off themselves next year. Blame your ELT. Blame low barrel prices. Blame poor leadership. HR has already gotten the ax and will likely get more after carrying out your ELT's handy work.
