Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

I very seldon cuss or use vulgar words. I think this is needed for some of the younger "kids". "HR DIDN'T LAY YOU OFF. YOUR SUPERIORS DID!!!

HR is only doing the job requested of them. Oil is an ugly business. NO, I am not HR. but "F*** YOU IF YOU DIDN'T GET A PARTICIPANT TROPHY" when you got led out the door. I"ve been around for over 30 years and I may still get kicked out, but I know the business. If you think you had a 4.0 in college or your years of experience might save you, forget it, it's a numbers game (and yesi some cases it's a buddy game), You can wonder what you did wrong or who you pissed off, but it wasn't HR that pulled your number out of a hat or put it in in to be drawn.

Right, HR is just doing their job that they were hired to possibly have to do: terminate folks (but not like The Terminator thankfully). Unfortunately, like IT, after the layoffs there will be less folks for HR and supervisors to manage, so I would EXPECT from a well run company that HR and management layoffs SHOULD FOLLOW the worker bee layoffs. Hopefully these HR and Supervisors will post to this site the results of their layoffs, if we do not scare them away!

It is interesting that Shiela Feldman the VP of HR was fired even before the layoffs. There was no explanation given.

although the topic is HR... Could we please leave the cats out of this one? A lot of animosity has been directed at them. If i had to take a guess, there more concerned about finding a comfy place to sleep the day away opposed to the COP layoffs. Yeah, the shedding can be a bit much to deal with... But no one would accuse you of being perfect either.

175651 You hit the nail on the head. They don't tell you nothing but the good when bringing u on board. My area superintendent told me my facility might not be there forever but I had a job somewhere. He is a LIAR. Glad to be exCon now.

"The business" was not part of the onboarding. And the senior staff are reluctant to note the dark side of the business to the new employees. The work locations for many of the roles are the poster child town for the movie Deliverance. The salary and the stability were the highlights of the onboarding, though.
