Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Anyone know of the signs your store is closing?

Just wondering if anyone has any clues we could see coming if our store is closing. Our trucks have been very inconsistent and we are getting a lot of re-pack boxes (like 50-60 at a time). We have also had a few people walking around our store for hours just looking and taking pictures. When confronted by management they just say they are looking and leave soon after.

Just wondering if these are signs or our store closing. Thanks

I would seriously worry if every single one of those repack boxes contains nothing, but upc's that are scanning a penny. It's usually standard practice for a closing store to receive store-to-store transfers of all the penny merchandise (or as I would like to call it, "problem child" inventory) from other stores.

I know our store just had a visit from our corporates boss. The vise president of sears. Makes me wonder what's up. They never visited us before.

The same thing happened at my store a few months ago. Corporate was coming in once a week for a month or so. Then, they were taking pictures of the fitting rooms & other departments in the store. I think they are trying to figure out which stores they plan on closing next. Another wave is coming & they want to make sure that they get rid of the right stores. I feel like my store is on the chopping block as well. The truck situation may or may not have anything to do with you closing. Earlier this year, they shut down a distribution center. That could explain the infrequent deliveries. I hope our stores can make it. Good luck to you.

Throughout the summer we got hardly any merchandise. Now we have to much. We are bursting at the seams. They say its for the holidays. But corporate constantly comes every week. We would like it if they would stop lying. Can't sears ever tell the truth.

If you start seeing asset transfers to other stores such as shopping carts, then definitely, yes.
