Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Why this page is a place to vent

The sad part is and I'm not pro union. But whole foods is basically allowed to do whatever they want with no ramifications. I worked at a store where the leadership team was allowed to run wild and treat you however they wanted to. There was no safe place to turn. The TMSS would listen to me and tell me that she was there for me. And in the next breath bad mouth my team leader and the astl. She then would go out to lunch with the stl and do nothing about the problems being brought to her. I was once harassed by the stl about the team leader surveys asking me if I filled out a negative one he saw about the terrible astl. Another time the astl cursed at me and called me names in closed door office with only his buddy as a witness It's hard to work there cause there is no one to go to where you feel safe and can solve problems. I'm not saying a union would help but there needs to be some sort of outside agency to handle

problems. Another team leader told me I better not tell the store team leader anything because I was known as a troublemaker. Yet I worked for two years. Never had a write up and was promoted from team member to atl in 4 months. This was the worst place I ever worked. This is why so many good people quit and why they are left with leadership who have no education no outside whole foods experience and no problem solving skills. I went to work at whole foods because I believed in the company values not because I needed to take any job. In fact I took a pay cut to work there. Everyday I was shocked at the unprofessional and illegal behavior of my bosses. I think whole foods is a disgusting sham of a Company and I know they will not survive this. It's sad that some of you on here are afraid to even ask for your pay! That is crazy. I am making it my mission to the expose whole foods for the lies they spin. People aren't buying it anymore. I worked in the Midwest region. I haven't set foot in a whole foods since and I never will. They lost and Intelligent and effective team member. And a life long customer. Whole foods should be ashamed of itself.

They try to hunt down anyone who leaves a negative comment and get rid of them. There is nothing anonymous about those surveys.

We are allowed to see the results of the STL and ASTL surveys. They are posted at one of the time clocks in my store, and holy crap, do our team members rip into them. One of our ASTL's in particular was just torn apart so badly, people writing that she shouldn't be allowed to reproduce... it was actually really funny. Seems to have changed her attitude though.

The surveys ARE used. They help leadership identify Union threats and quash them.

Those surveys are rigged.

Only Whole Foods would spend an obscene amount of money to have a third party company create a survey under the guise of transparency, and then throw it in the trash. What a joke.

We were NEVER allowed to see the results of morale surveys or TL surveys. Also did y'all ever notice that only top leaders were allowed to rate regional dotted-line folks like coordinators and data control etc? It was as if the company didn't want to acknowledge how horrible they were nor that we had a daily relationship with regional that was just as important or more important than our relationship with store-level leadership. I wanted to rate several people but it was impossible. They were all considered not my immediate supervisors yet we communicated and took orders from them constantly.

Omg!! I was also confronted by my stl and astl on a negative tl survey!! The stl was very chummy with my tl it was such a horrible experience during that time. I almost left the company. Eventually someone saw what was going on and had my back.

I was retaliated against for filling out a negative TL survey by Nona herself. I was a TL with integrity who cared about the core values and lived them in executing my job. I was naive, I never conceived that someone would abuse their position to their own selfish ends. I had TMs I didn't like, but they never knew it. As long as they did their best at work, I had no issues with them personally. I believed that was how other leaders acted as well. I learned too late that Nona and those loyal to her will lie and use any other unethical scheme to eliminate any perceived threats. After 15 years I falsely written up twice and fired all within one week. I drank the kool-aid and didn't believe in unions. As a TL I would have been exempt anyway. I now firmly believe WF needed and should have unionized 10 years ago. I believe with a Union in place many of the management abuses might have been checked. It's not too late.

Sadly, this has been my experience as well. It's a terrible corporation that rules by fear and intimidation. At our store we weren't even allowed to see the results of the team leader surveys.
