Looks for cats in the area, there is some strange connection between HR and cats. Where there is fur, there is fire.

how will you they are coming you ask? First the lights on your floor will go out, you'll reach for your desktop phone only to make the discovery that it's been disconnected. By the time you realized what is happening your on the floor with your feet and hands zip-tied. Also, don't run... There are expecting you to.

You do not know HR is coming. Management will contact via phone and instruct you to proceed to a predetermined location for the layoff process. For the most part the process is well organized. Employees elsewhere involved in layoffs are often out and about working at the time of a layoff such as out and about at a client site in another country. The company credit card ceases to function at the time of the layoff so not the better situation.

In my case the manager ceased communication prior to the layoff. Oddly enough I was extraordinary productive during the time period. Later I understood the level of discomfort with the level of discomfort associated with a letter of recommendation form a member of upper management.
