Hidden Glutamate like MSG: Autolyzed yeast, natural flavours, hyrolyzed vegetable protein

Values matter! Except when it comes to admitting that MSG by any other name is still glutamate. Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) is produced by boiling foods such as soy, corn, or wheat in hydrochloric acid and then neutralizing the solution with sodium hydroxide. The acid breaks down the protein in vegetables into their component amino acids. Then pour it in the vat, fry it up real good and slap a "healthy" label on it. Wooo hooo! Don't forget to charge 3x as much.

Just for fun, check the seasoning mixes, Fantastic Foods line of products, seaweed snacks, most of the snack aisle, crackers, soups, soup mixes, the frozen aisle.... It's all over the place.

This goes beyond people who are sensitive to the heart of what constitutes "food." WFM is supposed to hold itself to a very high standard, RIGHT? Values matter, RIGHT? Selling only the finest quality NATURAL AND ORGANIC PRODUCTS...RIGHT? Well what is it about boiling grains in hydrochloric acid to pre-digest the stuff and then neutralizing the caustic acid solution with sodium hydroxide DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? That's the whole idea of WFM.. That you don't need a chemistry degree (which I'm sure you lack yourself based on your lack of civility and reactive need to make a personal attack on the poster.) Glutamate additives of any just cheap flavor enhancers that the body quickly converts to gluatamic acid. The only propaganda I see is coming from the quality standards department whose publications make it seem like there's no cheap glutamate additives. Well assuming the labels are honest, there's no MSG that we know of, but according to FDA, it's doesn't matter: "The glutamate in MSG is chemically indistinguishable from glutamate present in food proteins. Our bodies ultimately metabolize both sources of glutamate in the same way." So you can stick it where the sun don't shine and stop defending what you know or should know is a deceptive practice. Customers pointed this out to me and it was indefensible then and still is. Now shouldn't you go back to writing fake positive reviews on Glassdoor?

People who react poorly to MSG have a sensativity to glutamine. MSG is not a synonym for those other items but since they contain a FORM of glutamine anyone with concern or sensativity should avoid them as well.

Please take a basic chemistry course before spewing your ignorant, uneducated propaganda. You are giving misleading information because you lack a basic understanding of what glutamine is and how it functions in its various forms.

Same old scare tactics...
