This is VERY true! After a 29 year career with Chevron, I was "left standing", and applied for multiple positions with service companies that I knew. They were all interested for about 24 hours, then declined my calls. US laws mean very little to jackbooted thugs like Chevron's legal and PGPA teams. One thing to keep in mind everyone: Karma is a mean bitch, and she doesn't forget!

I have had several companies that were not able to take me on because Chevron refused to confirm my employment history with them. Either the requests got "lost" somehow or there was simply no response at all. This has caused me several great opportunities. Not to mention that I have yet to receive my severance package yet either with no response from HR. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Sounds a bit paranoid. Why would they bother to do that? They're not offering cushy "Golden Handshakes" and afraid that too many folks will take them up on it and jump ship, are they? Are they afraid that the best folks won't try that hard when they reapply for their Chevron jobs if they figure they can land a job elsewhere? No, I think this is a bit over the top.

That is true. If you leave Deep Water and try to get a Job at a service company, they will notify the OEMs.

Chevron is so big, they believe they can block you from earning a living in your area of expertise. I would advise looking for an experienced law firm that will go toe-to-toe with Chevron.
