Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

If you get laid off at Chevron, You can never work there again.

I was informed that Chevron will never rehire people they laid off. Also, other Operators won't hire you knowing that you were cut by Chevron. So good luck and have a merry Christmas without a job. Tell your kids that Santa Clause will not come this year.

Jackass, you have been kissing up bosses and stabbing co-workers in the back your whole career at Chevron and it kept you safe. But this time, you have embarrassed Chevron legal and you may finally be sacked. Chevron would be guilty of illegal retaliation and defamation by attempting to make sure ROMed employees could never work for oil services companies again.

Hey, corporate toad. What is your point, that if you are sacked by Chevron you will never work in the oil business again? The only negative that might hold you back is that you worked for Chevron, but if you were in a real E&P position, you will be okay. If your were in the Center of Excellence, HR, PRC, or PGPA, not so much.

Yeah, your post is total bullshit.

I already have a job lined up and they are happy to have me.

So take your bitter ass and F off.

If tou read your walking papers, you will learn that is true about Chevron, but not service companies. If HR or magement told you this, you should ask again and record it. You will have grounds for a lawsuit. That is an illegal threat of retaliation.

CVX is one black swan event from total collapse. The sloppy project management in Angola, Ausralia, the GOM and Marcellus have the company on the brink of a stock sell off.

After what I have witnessed at Chevron, it would be the last place I would ever come back to!

Sorry 177927 not true. I work with many petrotechs that were layed off by Chevron and subsequently rehired. The layoffs now are about numbers not value. Our competitors know this and will be poaching many of our good people let go. Anadarko for instance.

Yeah, pretty much valid within the oil industry. Once laid off you are considered damaged goods and it is highly improbable you will work for Chevron or whatever company cut you loose, again. It's up to you to convince another company of the value proposition you can bring them. If you were of no value at Chevron, you probably won't be perceived as offering any value to any other company. That's just how things are. Best of luck to us all.

Dear Mr. Grinch, there are many at CVX that have been rehired after being layed off. Time off from CVX may also afford one time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Sorry for you and yours but you are a mean one Mr. Grinch.

So what? I'm being laid off and I have no intention of ever returning to CVX. It's like a divorce and we will be civil in the future but sure as hell won't be "friends." It's time to roll out and move on.

Read the notification information. It explains that part, about rehire. Not true about other operators either.

If that is true, it's time for a class action lawsuit against Chevron.
